Back in March, as part of their speaker series, the American Humanist Association had Katherine Stewart talk about how Christian nationalism has turned religion into a tool for political power. Katherine Stewart is the author of The Power Worshippers: Inside the Dangerous Rise of Religious Nationalism (Bloomsbury). Her work has appeared in The New York Times, the Washington Post, the American Prospect, the Advocate and others. Her previous book, The Good News Club: Inside the Dangerous Rise of Religious Nationalism (2012) was an investigation of the Religious Right and public education.
