Updated location! Tour of Oakwood Cemetery

  • oakwood cemetery 940 Comstock Avenue Syracuse, NY, 13210 United States (map)

UPDATE: We will now be meeting at the Comstock Avenue entrance to the cemetery (rather than at the old chapel). There is (usually) a large trailer near a parking area. We will meet there. Please try to be on time, as the group will be moving away from the meeting place, and it may be hard to find us. :)

We will be walking off the paths, so the tour guide recommends good walking shoes and either bug spray or long pants. He also recommends we bring water and fully-charged cell phones--there will be many things to take pictures of!

We will have the tour rain or shine, but if it starts lightning, we will cut it short. And don't forget a mask!

In summer we try to do a tour of a place of interest in the region. This year, Sue Greenhagen, who works with the Historic Oakwood Preservation Association, will give us a tour of Oakwood Cemetery! Sue is passionate about the history of the Oakwood Cemetery, and this should be a very interesting outing!

Please wear a mask, and Sue has a microphone she can use if needed so we can all hear her while staying socially distanced. We will be walking through the cemetery, up and down hills, and across the grass. The tour should last about an hour. If it’s a hot day, it would probably be a good idea to bring a bottle of water with you.
