Food Security Project: Library Farm Pantry Workday

  • Northern Onondaga Public Library Cicero 8686 Knowledge Lane Cicero, NY, 13039 United States (map)

From the Northern Onondaga Public Library Cicero’s website:

The Library Farm is an organic, educational, community garden located on the grounds of the Northern Onondaga Public Library in Cicero, NY. …The mission of the Library Farm is to provide a place for the community to grow, share and learn about food literacy, and organic, sustainable gardening.

At the Library Farm, half of the area is dedicated to a Food Pantry/Educational Garden; the other half is dedicated to our individual gardeners.

As part of our Food Security Project, we’ll meet at the Library Farm to help out with the Food Pantry garden from 10 to noon. As the library website says, “This is an informal event, participants may come and go anytime. Everyone is welcome to visit and talk gardening!”

Food Pantry Partnerships

Our libraries are able to support local food pantries with hundreds of pounds of produce from our Library Farm community garden, as well as pantry staples from our annual “Food for Fines” campaign.
